Reviving Islam in My Life
Loving Others for the Sake of Allah
The gift of Imaan is the constant search for closeness to Allah. One of the most valuable ways to achieve this closeness is to have friendships for the sake of Allah.
Muhammad (SAW) said:
“When one of you has love for his brother, he should inform him that he loves him.”
- It is a Sunnah to inform someone you love them for the sake of Allah.
- The believer should value the people who take them closer to Allah and make Dua for them.
- The essence of a friendship is good Akhlaaq. Where there is enmity, there is bad character.
Muhammad (SAW) was sent to perfect character. The source of good character is finding good character within oneself, and the believer should always strive to be a person that is of the best Akhlaaq.
- People will constantly be difficult, but the question is: how do we respond to them?
- When loving for the sake of Allah, it does not matter how one is treated by others. The tie/connection is only for Allah.
- Unity is a beautiful gift from Allah, but is only possible with a good Akhlaaq at the centre of it.
Muhammad (SAW) said:
“A believer loves and is loved. There is no good in one who does not love and is not loved.”
- Being a source of love is part of one’s Imaan.
- By loving for the sake of Allah, one becomes beloved to Allah, Who will take care of all one’s worries, desires, and needs.
Muhammad (SAW) said that Allah says:
“My meeting becomes sure for those who meet one another for Me. My love becomes sure for those who love one another for Me. My help becomes sure for those who help one another for Me.”
- Who others are should never impact who you are.
- The believer cannot love without actions.
- One must combat their Nafs in order to understand the people of Allah; to love them and bring them closer to Him.
